Women's Cashmere Raftery Coat

We were inspired by the famed 19th century nomadic poet Raftery and his epic poem Seanchas na Sceiche in which he berates a bush for failing him in his search for shelter. His clothes were often remarked upon, particularly Cóta Raiftearaí, so in tribute, we designed a beautiful soft Donegal cashmere and merino long coat which has become an Inis Meáin signature piece in our Men's Collection. Now we have designed a variation with more feminine styling, including a slightly shorter length and a wider collar. Also known as Cóta Máire Ní Eidhin, after Raftery's muse, a famously beautiful lady from Gort, in Co. Galway. This iconic coat is a perfect combination of substance and sophistication, giving infinite options to achieve a unique multilayered and stylish knit-look. Crafted with super-premium Cashmere and Merino yarn from Italian heritage producer, Filati Biagioli Modesto, made to the highest European environmental standards using only organic dyes.

Available in Charcoal Fleck, a versatile dark grey elevated with warm orange and snowy white highlights. Designed, made and hand-finished in our Aran Islands workshop.
