This season, we reversed our much-loved Carpenter Jacket to put the fat, intricate seams on the outside, creating a look that is at once fantastically rustic yet totally cool. Originally inspired by the practical yet comfortable coat once worn by one of the Island’s carpenters, and crafted from ultra-soft Super Geelong merino wool and cashmere blend, the Reverse Carpenter is a stylish alternative to that classic workwear staple, the chore coat.
Exclusive to Inis Meáin in Ireland, the Super Geelong merino wool and cashmere blend comes from Filati Biagioli Modesto, a century-old family mill at the foot of the mountains above Prato. Super Geelong comes from the first clip, which is a finer micron than second and subsequent clips, so only a tiny fraction of merino is good enough to be classified Super Geelong. Dedicated to sustainable production, Filati Biagioli Modesto use only organic and premium quality dyes to the highest European environmental standards. This reassuringly heavy blend creates a soft feel with strength, while the saddle shoulder ensures a flattering, relaxed fall, making layering easy.
Exceedingly luxurious and warm, the Reverse Carpenters soft lines and unique detailing mean it works dressed either up or down. Features two pockets at hip-level and a third at breast height. Finished with a row of smooth Buffalo horn buttons from specialists Bottonificio Padano in Padova. Available in Louth, a deep rich blue and turf-brown blend detailed with warm flecks of red and yellow. Made and hand-finished in our Aran Islands workshop.
