Inis Meáin Knitting Company has been lovingly designing and knitting special pieces on the Aran Islands for almost 50 years. While designing for both Men and Women, Menswear has been our main focus for the last number of years. We have many fantastically loyal customers who have a real affinity with our products knitted to the highest quality from the finest yarns, often reconnecting the senses to their mother’s or grandmother’s knitted pieces in touch, smell and comfort.
Giving or self-gifting knitwear from Inis Meáin is much more than the garment itself – it is a gift of so many parts.
It is a gift of tradition and craft – using the designs and techniques passed down through generations in the home of the renowned Aran Sweater.
It is a gift of support for sustainability and culture – employing 25 people out of the island population of 160, to help maintain a living community in a remote place of Irish cultural importance.
It is a gift of a labour of love – there are far easier places in the world to make knitwear than on this tiny island in the Atlantic!
We make knitwear for all year around and gift options are many – from cool linen for warmer climes across polo shirts to jackets; and a large range of cashmere, merino, baby alpaca and silk, not only in styles from crew necks to coats but also across our accessories and homeware ranges.
