On the Island, Aran patterns were passed down within families with pride. Inis Meáin’s signature Patented Aran pattern has the distinction of being held in the collection of the National Museum of Ireland. Unique to Inis Meáin, the intricate composition of this fine cable knit pattern is reminiscent of the strong twists of the Island fishing ropes.  Eminently versatile, the large Patented Aran Shawl can dress up an outfit as an elegant shoulder garment, be your luxurious blanket for cuddling up on the couch, or enhance a room as a uniquely decorative throw. Crafted from Baby Alpaca Wool blended with Silk and made to the highest environmental standards using only organic and premium quality dyes. Measures 72cm x 158cm.

Available in Brown, a deep warm shade of mixed turf, peat and earth and in Grey, a tonal grey reflective of the island sand distilled from grey limestone and off-white shells.  The Grey Large Aran Shawl is the same colour that has graced the beds at our sister company, Inis Meáin Island Stays since opening, that many of our guests haven’t been able to leave without.  Designed, made and hand-finished in our Aran Islands workshop.

This garment is made using Baby Alpaca, an extremely soft yarn giving it a stitch quality that can be susceptible to snagging on sharp objects and jewellery. Care should be taken to avoid this. Hand wash in water no more than 30 degrees using a mild detergent. Lay on a flat surface to dry.

All orders are shipped via UPS. A tracking number will be emailed to you once your order has left our factory. Although we will do everything we can to deliver as fast as possible, please allow a ten day shipping period due to our remote location on an offshore island.

Our Dollar Prices are Landed - Duty Paid, so there will be no further taxes or import duties to pay for shipments to the US.  

As we are based in the EU, our EU Euro Prices also include all relevant taxes.

On shipments to the UK or any country outside of the EU and US, all duties, fees, taxes and customs charges incurred are the responsibility of the customer, and are dependent on the shipping address.
Therefore they are not inclusive in the Non-EU Euro price shown upon purchasing.

Our Online Shop Returns Policy means that if you are not fully happy with the goods you have received, you can return them to us within 14 days of receipt, providing they are in original resalable condition.  Once returned you will be entitled to receive a refund, which will not include the cost of the original shipping.
